When the USB price is too good to be true, then it's probably is. Buyers Beware of USB Fake Capacities!

One of my friend visited China last year, he went to a street market and bought a 250 Gb USB Drive.. huuwow!!! He was very proud to have found such a big capacity for less than 20 USD… 250gb usb at 20USD? Red Flag!!!

Innogen Concepts have been working in USB drive market for years and I told him… well you have just bought a fake; never add any sensitive data on it!!!

When you plug the drive to your computer, it indicates the 250 Gb capacity, you can add some files like on whatever USB drive, but when reached the max of the REAL capacity , you will realize that most of the files you uploaded just get a kind of “Print screen” of your files and you cannot open most of them.

This technique is used a lot in the USB promotion industry: some factories can give you a very attractive price, 20% or 30% lower than the normal price, and in that case they modify the way your computer understand the capacity.  In fact in each USB drive there is a “Controller” which is a kind of small program that makes the link between the USB Chip and your computer. So for example they use 1 Gb Chip and your computer will read it as a 4gb. You will not discover at first, but when it reached the 1gb capacity and when customers complain data lost and most importantly their sensitive data, I cannot begin to imagine how are you going to explain these to them.

For this reason, never trust any seller who gives you very very cheap prices especially on the higher capacities.
